The Mould, Empower, Serve (MES) supported by our Chairman’s Fund, originally started as a small feeding scheme in the centre of Johannesburg in response to the breakdown of communities in the inner city. Today it is a holistic service model, with facilities also in Cape Town and Port Elizabeth, that helps people to create self-sustaining lives, bringing life and community back to the heart of the city.
Their services and facilities include a daily feeding scheme, a pre-school with 130 children, a youth training centre and low cost housing units. Many of the 160 staff members are from the communities they support, and have at one time or another received help from MES.
